William de Matteo Sterling Silver Footed Lily Compote 6.5" Midcentury M1849

This amazing midcentury modern sterling silver compote was made by William G. DeMatteo in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Round and wide bowl on twisted shaft mounted to domed and beaded foot. Mounted to bowl underside is floral band comprising seed-spilling buds. This rare piece is a beautiful dish for display or use.
