This beautiful necklace from Zuni artists Augustine and Rosalie Pinto is adorned at center with a Mudhead inlay of turquoise, coral, onyx, and mother of pearl, set in sterling silver flanked by an additional four Mudheads each in their own sterling silver bezel frame. A great addition for any collector of Zuni or Native American jewelry!
Augustine and Rosalie Pinto were the last of the great Zuni Silversmiths who worked by hand without the use of electricity. They specialized in Mosaic Inlay...a style created in Zuni by Teddy Weahkee. Mosaic inlay is much like a puzzle, inlaying one piece against another without using silver channels for support.
